While many locals know the current burst of sunny weather and warmer temperatures is most likely just “false spring,” there’s no reason you can’t get outside and enjoy the reprieve from winter. Sure, the rain and cooler temps might be lurking just around the corner (fingers crossed they’re not), but living in the Sacramento region provides plenty of opportunity for stocking up on Vitamin D while you can. If you have kids, you know that being cooped up in the house can be detrimental to everyone’s mental health, so why not take advantage of the bright sunshine and get everyone moving their bodies and soaking up the sunshine? Below are some of the best parks in the area to accomplish just that.

Maidu Regional Park in Roseville

This park is located in the well-established area of East Roseville, where the houses have character, and the trees are large and looming. It’s a park that has just about everything. There’s a library, skate park, covered soccer arena, exercise stations, baseball fields, basketball courts, two playgrounds, bathrooms, and a walking trail that will make you forget you are actually in the middle of a city. Whatever your kids are into, they are sure to find something they love at this Roseville gem.

Johnson-Spingview Park in Rocklin

Hop on over to Rocklin and enjoy nature and abundant opportunities to enjoy the sunshine. Johnson-Springview Park is equipped with covered and uncovered picnic areas, a dog park, two playgrounds, a splash pad (only on during summer months), walking trails, and a disc golf course. Little kids will enjoy the smaller playground, digging in the sandbox, swinging, or simply watching the many dogs at the dog park. Older kids will find plenty to do as well, from getting energy out on the larger playground to playing sports in one of the many large, open, grassy areas. You’ll be able to spend hours enjoying the spring weather.

“The Castle Park” in Folsom

So the actual name of this park is Folsom Kids Play Park, but locals all seem to know it as “The Castle Park.” Why? Because the old-school wooden playground looks like a giant castle complete with bridges, secret passageways, towers, and a painted dragon looming above. It’s a must-visit! There’s a smaller area for little kids, swings, a sandbox, and massive tires kids love to climb on. There are bathrooms within walking distance, as well as another small park/playground. If you feel like taking a nature walk, there are trails meandering around the park that lead over scenic bridges and gorgeous ponds. Make sure to bring a picnic because your kids are going to want to stay a long time, and the covered picnic tables and closeness to restrooms make that absolutely possible.
